Aston Villa entertained Manchester United at Villa Park earlier today as they focused on securing a victory at home in the Premier League. The Villans made a quick start to the game and scored the opening goal in the seventh minute via Leon Bailey’s impressive finish. Lucas Digne doubled Aston Villa’s advantage just four minutes with a world-class freekick. However, Man United responded in the dying embers of the first half when Jacob Ramsey scored an unfortunate own goal. The West Midlands club went into the half-time break 2-1 up on the scoreline.
Jacob Ramsey made up for his own goal by scoring with an excellent finish in the 49th minute. Erik ten Hag’s side failed to come up with a response as the contest finished 3-1 in favour of the Villans.

The Argentine keeper made a couple of solid saves but failed to keep a clean sheet today.
RB: Matty Cash – 6.5/10
Cash earned the ball back a few times but lacked quality in the Man United half.
CB: Ezri Konsa – 6.5/10
Konsa cleared the danger when needed and kept a solid defensive shape at the back.
CB: Tyrone Mings – 7/10
The English centre-half was a rock at the back for most of the game and did well to restrict the opposition to just one goal.
LB: Lucas Digne – 7/10
The French left-back got his name on the scoresheet with a superb free-kick in the 11th minute. He was a strong presence at the back as well.
CM: Leander Dendoncker – 6.5/10
Dendoncker worked hard defensively but offered very little in the opposiiton half.
CM: Douglas Luiz – 7/10
The Brazilian talent anchored the midfield with conviction and made one key chance in the final third.
RW: Leon Bailey – 8/10
Bailey opened the goal-scoring with a great finish and was a constant menace down the right flank.
CAM: Jacob Ramsey – 8/10
He scored an unfortunate own goal late in the first half. However, he redeemed himself by scoring a goal and picking up an assist today.
LW: Emiliano Buendia – 6.5/10
Buendia did his fair share of defending but offered very little in the final third.
ST: Ollie Watkins – 7/10
The English forward was tidy with his link-up play and ended the game with an assist to his name.
