In a recent report, Birmingham Live‘s Ashley Preece mentioned that Aston Villa are expected to land Linfield starlet Cole Brannigan. In a Q&a recently, when asked about the Villans’ interest in the talented youngster, Preece replied,

“Young teenage winger Cole Brannigan, yes mate, expected to sign terms with Villa. Man City were also in for him.”

Brannigan’s Recent Rise At Linfield

Brannigan has established himself as one of the brightest young wingers in Northern Irish football. The Northern Ireland Under-16 whizkid has managed to shine for Linfield Rangers at the Victory Shield tournament recently as he produced a run of impressive performances for them in the final third.

The 15-year-old has come through the youth ranks of Northern Irish football and is currently destined to have a very bright future at the highest level. Hence, the Villans would do well to win the race for his services as they need to build for the future.

Brannigan could grow into a top talent in Aston Villa’s academy and has the ceiling to become a future starter at the West Midlands club if he can continue to improve with each year.

Aston Villa Expected To Sign Cole Brannigan: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Brannigan is a lively presence on the ball and can make some energetic runs toward the opposition penalty box. He has got the vision to create some decent plays for others around him but needs to be more composed in front of the opponent’s goal. The Northern Irish prospect is primarily a wide player but can also play as a central midfielder if told to do so.

At the moment, Brannigan is enjoying his football in Northern Ireland. However, the gifted talent would have to get even better if he wants to work his way up the youth levels of English football.

At 15, Brannigan is no doubt a prospect to watch out for in the future. Therefore, the Villans will do well to fend off competition from other clubs and get him on board soon.

However, only time will tell whether Brannigan has what it takes to cope with the physical side and high intensity of football in England. Still, there is no doubt that the Linfield wonderkid will be a great acquisition for Aston Villa in the long run as long as they are willing to be patent with his progress at Villa Park.
