West Ham United will face off against FCSB at the National Arena on Thursday night as they look to secure a win away from home in the UEFA Europa Conference League. The Hammers suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat away at Manchester United recently which has drained their confidence ahead of this game.
David Moyes will set his team up in a 5-3-2 formation and could make a lot of changes to his starting XI for this game. Michail Antonio and Said Benrahma will lead the charge for the East London club in the final third.
5-3-2 West Ham United Predicted Lineup To Face FCSB
Defence
Alphonse Areola will probably get the nod to operate in goal for the Hammers. Moyes could opt for a centre-back trio of Angelo Ogbonna, Nayef Aguerd and Ben Johnson for this European clash on the road.
Vladimir Coufal will try to give a good account of himself as the right-back while Emerson Palmieri hopes to catch the eye on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will get the license to get forward and join in on the attack if needed. They will also have to find a way to keep a solid defensive shape at the back in midweek.
Kurt Zouma and Thilo Kehrer will be available for selection on the bench as they provide cover for the defensive spots.
Midfield
Manuel Lanzini, Conor Coventry and Pablo Fornals will function as the holding midfielders as they focus on winning the 50-50 battles at the centre of the park. Lanzini and Fornals will have to find a way to create some inviting chances on the attacking end of the pitch.
Flynn Downes, Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek will be named on the bench as they wait for their chance to shine in the second 45 minutes if required.
Attack
Michail Antonio and Said Benrahma will spearhead Moyes’ attack in the final third. Both West Ham forwards would be eager to get their names on the scoresheet this Thursday night. Benrahma had a good game versus Man United despite failing to score against them last weekend. Therefore, Moyes would hope that he can build on the performance in this midweek contest away from home.
Gianluca Scamacca will have to settle for a spot on the bench but might come on to make an impact in the latter stages of the match if West Ham are in need of a goal by then.
