Thierry Henry is a former French footballer who is currently an assistant coach of the Belgium national team. He is considered by many as one of the best strikers of all time because of his stellar career at Arsenal and with France.
Following his retirement as a footballer, the 45-year-old decided to go into football coaching. At the moment, he is preparing Belgium for the 2022 FIFA World Cup which is set to kick off in Qatar next month.
Thierry Henry: Early Life
Henry was born in Les Ulis, France and came through the youth ranks of Clairef and later, Versailles before joining Monaco at a young age. He caught the eye of the French club and managed to seal a move to Juventus back in 1999. Henry joined Arsenal later that year and went on to score 228 goals and pick up 103 assists in 376 appearances for North London across all competitions.
The French striker ended his playing career at New York Red Bulls and has since, gone into football coaching. He was a youth coach at Arsenal and was appointed as the full-time manager of Monaco back in 2018. However, Henry moved on to manage Montreal soon after but decided to part ways with them in 2021. He is currently the assistant manager of Belgium and is working alongside Roberto Martinez to prepare the European nation for the 2022 World Cup which will take place in the Middle East from November 20.
Henry won the FIFA World Cup in 1998 with France on home soil and also lifted the UEFA Champions League with Barcelona in 2008. He has won those two prestigious trophies among many other top honours during his long and decorated career as a player.
