AC Milan will clash heads with Chelsea at San Siro this Wednesday night as they continue their Champions League campaign hoping to earn a positive result this time around. The Rossoneri recorded a disappointing 3-0 defeat in their reverse fixture against Chelsea last week at Stamford Bridge as they find themselves in the third place of Group E.
Stefano Pioli will set his team up in a 4-2-3-1 formation allowing Pierre Kalulu to keep his place in the right-back and Brahim Diaz to start again in this match as Pioli looks to find the winning formula for this European contest.
4-2-3-1 AC Milan Predicted Line Up Vs Chelsea
Defence
Ciprian Tătăruşanu will continue to feature in between the sticks for the Blues after he kept a clean sheet in his last outing against Juventus. Fikayo Tomori will resume his defensive partnership with Matteo Gabbia at the centre of Milan’s backline as they try to keep things tidy at the back throughout the game.
Pierre Kalulu will keep his place as the right-back while Theo Hernandez fills in on the other flank as the left-back. Both will get the license to get forward and express themselves in the Chelsea half.
Sergino Dest will drop to the bench to provide cover for the defensive positions and could come on to impact the game in the second half if required.
Midfield
Ismael Bennacer and Sandro Tonali will anchor the midfield for Pioli’s side as they focus on efficiently distributing possession at the centre.
The talented trio of Rafael Leao, Brahim Diaz and Tommaso Pobega will operate just ahead of them as part of Milan’s attack. Diaz managed to get his name on the scoresheet against Juventus in the last Serie A fixture which will give them a confidence boost ahead of this clash on the road.
Leao has to find a way to get in behind the Chelsea backline so that they can engineer cleat-cut chances inside the opponent’s penalty area.
Rade Krunic and Charles De Ketelaere will be available for selection on the bench as they wait for their chance to make an impact in the second half if required.
Attack
Olivier Giroud will lead the charge for the Italian giants up top. The French striker will have to carry most of the goal-scoring burden for AC Milan on the attacking end of the pitch as he fancies his chances of finding the back of the net.
