Liverpool welcomed Manchester City at Anfield earlier this evening as they looked to earn a good result on their travels. The Merseyside club were solid in the first half and managed to get into the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.
Mohamed Salah scored a wonderful breakaway goal in the 76th minute as the contest ended with Jurgen Klopp’s men securing a gritty 1-0 win at home.

The Brazilian keeper made a handful of important saves at the back and secured a well-deserved clean sheet in front of the Kop. He also picked a great assist for setting up Salah’s goal.

The English veteran was a rock at the back and kept Phil Foden in his back pocket for most of the game.
CB: Joe Gomez – 7.5/10
Gomez made a string of crucial clearances inside his half and performed well enough to keep Erling Haaland quiet during the 90 minutes.

The Dutch centre-back organized his backline really well and dealt with the danger when needed.
LB: Andrew Robertson – 7.5/10
The Scottish left-back pressed the opposition with a lot of intensity and had Liverpool’s best chance in the first half which he ended up missing.
CM: Fabinho – 7/10
The Brazil international did a lot of defensive dirty work and played some decent passes in the Man City half.
CM: Thiago Alcantara – 7/10
He was always looking to get on the ball and distribute possession toward his teammates in the opponent’s half. The Spanish midfield ace came back to defend when needed.
RW: Harvey Elliott – 8/10
Elliott worked his socks off defensively and was a real menace in the final third.
CAM: Roberto Firmino – 7.5/10
The Brazilian led the Liverpool press well and linked up play well with others around him.
LW: Diogo Jota – 7/10
He worked his socks off in the final third but lacked the cutting edge of the opponent’s goal.
ST: Mohamed Salah – 9/10
The Egypt international was unstoppable at times inside the Man City half because of his excellent strength and dribbling. He scored the only goal of the game with a lovely run and finish.
