Aston Villa entertained Chelsea at Villa Park earlier tonight as they looked to secure a good result at home. The Villans made a poor start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the sixth minute when Mason Mount scored with a good finish. Steven Gerrard’s men went into the half-time break 1-0 down on the scoreline.

The West Midlands outfit failed to come up with a response after the restart and ended up conceding their second goal in the 65th minute when Mount found the back of the net once again. The Villans ended up crashing to a disappointing 2-0 defeat in front of their home fans which would mount even more pressure on Gerrard now.

Let’s take a look at how each Aston Villa player performed during the clash against the Blues.

GK: Emiliano Martinez – 6.5/10

The Argentine keeper made a couple of decent saves at the back and will be disappointed after failing to keep a clean sheet in both halves.

RB: Matty Cash – 6.5/10

He was far from convincing at the back but engineered a few inviting chances in the final third.

CB: Ezri Konsa – 6.5/10

Konsa gave a good account of himself on the defensive end of the field but still ended up shipping in a couple of goals today.

CB: Tyrone Mings – 5/10

He made a few errors of judgment at the back which cost the Villans a result.

CM: John McGinn – 7/10

RW: Leon Bailey – 6.5/10
