Manchester City will lock horns with Liverpool this Sunday as they make their trip to Anfield, meeting once again after their defeat in the Community Shield contest. The Sky Blues come into the match on the back of a frustrating scoreless draw against Copenhagen in the Champions League group stages. On the other hand, Liverpool recorded an emphatic 7-1 win against Rangers in their last UCL fixture.
Pep Guardiola will probably opt for the 4-3-3 formation and will make a couple of changes to the starting XI. Phil Foden will play from the start as the left-winger while Erling Haaland returns to strike against the Reds in the most anticipated Premier League encounter.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted XI Vs Liverpool
Defence
Ederson Moraes will operate in between the sticks for the upcoming clash. The Brazilian shot-stopper will hope to put up a strong performance and secure a clean sheet on Saturday. Ruben Dias will form the centre-half partnership with Aymeric Laporte at the heart of the City’s backline.
Joao Cancelo might start at the right-back position, whereas Sergio Gomez will fill in on the other flank as the left-back. The full-backs will be expected to stretch the opposition and keep their shape defensively.
Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake would have to provide cover from the bench as they wait for an opportunity to feature in the latter half of the game.
Midfield
Rodri is a guaranteed starter in the holding midfield position; he’ll be tasked with shielding the backline and distributing possession to his teammates efficiently.
Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne will slot into the central midfield position. The duo would be determined to set up some clear-cut goal-scoring chances for the frontmen making forward runs into the opposition backline.
Attack
Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva will take up the wide positions, playing on the left and right wing respectively, trying to cut inside and create chances in front of the goal.
Erling Haaland will lead the charge for the Etihad club this weekend. The Norwegian international will continue on his excellent run of form trying to find the back of the net as he faces off against Liverpool’s defence.
Julian Alvarez, Riyad Mahrez and Jack Grealish will all take a spot on the bench as they wait for an opportunity to impress in the latter half.
