Everton clashed heads with Newcastle United at St. James’ Park earlier tonight as they looked to grab maximum points on the road. The Toffees made a poor start to the game and found themselves a goal down in the 30th minute when Miguel Almiron scored with a brilliant strike. The Merseyside club went into the half-time break 1-0 down on the scoreline.
The Toffees failed to mount a comeback in the second half and crashed to a lackluster 1-0 defeat away from home.
Let’s take a look at how each Everton player fared during the match against the Magpies.

The English keeper made a few decent saves at the back but failed to secure a clean sheet tonight.
RB: Seamus Coleman – 6/10
He worked hard defensively but lacked the cutting edge in the final third.
CB: Conor Coady – 6.5/10
Coady tried his best to keep things solid at the back for most of the game.
CB: James Tarkowski – 7/10
The English defender was a rock at the back as he was responsible for making a lot of important interceptions and clearances inside his half.
LB: Vitaliy Mykolenko – 6/10
Mykolenko had a few bright moments in the game but struggled to get a foothold in the Newcastle half.
CM: Amadou Onana – 6.5/10
Onana got stuck in with some solid tackles and was accurate with his passing.
CM: Alex Iwobi – 6/10
He was tidy with his ball distribution but failed to influence the game at both ends of the field.
CM: Idrissa Gueye – 6.5/10
Gueye protected his backline as much as he could but offered very little in the opponent’s half.
RW: Anthony Gordon – 6.5/10
The Liverpool-born talent made two good runs with the ball but was toothless in front of the Newcastle goal.
ST: Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 5.5/10
Calvert-Lewin was quiet for most of the game and produced a disjointed display in the opposition half.
LW: Demarai Gray – 6.5/10
He showed a few flashes of what he can do but never looked like he would score.
Substitutes:
CM: James Garner – 6/10
He added some energy to Everton’s midfield.
