Aston Villa faced off against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground earlier tonight as they focused on securing a good result on their travels in the Premier League. The Villans made a poor start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the 15th minute when Emmanuel Dennis found the back of the net for the home team. However, Ashley Young equalised for Steven Gerrard’s side just seven minutes later as both teams went into the half-time break with nothing to split them.

The two clubs canceled each other out in the second half as the contest finished 1-1 after the full-time whistle.

Let’s take a look at how each Aston Villa player performed during the match against Nottingham.

GK: Emiliano Martinez – 6.5/10

The Argentine keeper made a couple of solid saves at the back but failed to keep a clean sheet.

RB: Matty Cash – 6.5/10

Cash got stuck in with some solid tackles and made one good run with the ball.

CB: Ezri Konsa – 6/10

He made one important clearance at the back but will be disappointed for conceding such an early goal.

CB: Tyrone Mings – 6.5/10

Mings earned the ball back twice and dealt with the danger when required.

LB: Ashley Young – 7.5/10

Young was solid when defending inside his half and had a good game going forward. He deserves a lot of credit for scoring the equaliser for the Villans in the 22nd minute.

McGinn got stuck in with some crunching tackles but was a bit wasteful in the final third.

CM: Douglas Luiz – 7/10

The Brazilian talent anchored the midfield well and made two good chances in the final third.

CM: Jacob Ramsey – 7/10

Ramsey came back to defend when needed and engineered one inviting opportunity in the opposition half.

RW: Emiliano Buendia – 7/10

The Argentine sensation was always willing to help his teammates out defensively and had some bright moments in the final third.

ST: Ollie Watkins – 6/10

Watkins showed some flashes of what he can do but failed to register a goal.

LW: Philippe Coutinho – 6.5/10

The former Liverpool talent caused a few problems for the opposition but could last only 64 minutes.

ST: Danny Ings – 6/10

He offered very little after coming off the bench.

His impact on the game was minimal.
