In a recent report, Birmingham Mail claimed that Aston Villa could reignite their interest in Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma. It has been revealed that the Villans might go back for the Dutch attacker after failing to land him last summer.
Danjuma’s Impressive Start To This La Liga Campaign
Danjuma has made a decent start to this campaign after putting in a few impressive displays as the focal point of Villarreal’s attack. The 25-year-old has banged in three goals in nine matches for the Yellow Submarine this season across multiple competitions.
The Lagos-born talent has seen most of his playing time come off the bench which could be why he has only averaged 0.8 shots and 0.2 key passes per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has to find a way to improve his ball distribution based on his pass success rate of 75% in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Estadio de la Cerámica is set to run out in the summer of 2026. Thus, it won’t be easy for the Villans to secure his services on the cheap next year.
Is Danjuma A Good Option For Aston Villa?
Danjuma has got decent pace under his belt and can make a few promising runs with the ball on the attacking end of the field. He is a good dribbler with the ball and has also added a handful of goals to his game this season. Danjuma usually acts as a centre-forward in the final third but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player or play in the number ten position if his manager tells him to do so.
Someone with Danjuma’s skillset will be a good option for Aston Villa to pursue this January or during the next summer transfer window. However, as mentioned earlier, the gifted attacker is on a long-term contract at Villarreal which would make it difficult for the Villans to sign him next year.
At 25, Danjuma’s best years are ahead of him which makes him a wise choice for the West Midlands club. Hence, they would be wise to try everything they can to bring the Dutch wing wizard to Villa Park in the future.
We can expect Danjuma to add more pace and goals to Aston Villa’s frontline. Plus, he could even help the Villans push for a top-half finish in the Premier League over the next few seasons.
