Manchester United will clash heads with Real Sociedad at Old Trafford on Thursday evening, hoping to pick up a positive result on match day 1 of the UEFA Europa League campaign. The visitors will be coming into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid, whereas the Red Devils recorded a thrilling 3-1 win against Arsenal.

Let’s take a look at how things are shaping up ahead of the midweek clash.

Team News

Anthony Martial is still ruled out with an Achilles injury.

“Yes, he is still out. He is progressing but he is not ready to get back into team training or in a game.” – Ten Hag revealed in his pre-match press conference.

‘There were no fresh absentees in training this week, although centre-back Robin Le Normand does look set to be ruled out.’ Manchester United’s official website stated.

‘Aritz Elustondo and Jon Pacheco are candidates to play in defence, and coach Imanol Alguacil could opt for a five-man backline.’

‘Carlos Fernandez, Mikel Oyarzabal and former Bournemouth left-back Diego Rico are all absent.’
