Recent reports from Italian media outlet Calciomercato state that Liverpool are keen on signing PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare in the upcoming transfer window as Jurgen Klopp looks set to add to his options in the middle of the park.
Manchester United were interested in the Ivory Coast international this summer; however, a move never materialised. Besides, the 24-year-old midfielder extended his contract with PSV until the summer of 2027, ending all the transfer speculation.
“It is clear that Ibrahim is an interesting player for many clubs, so we are happy he has decided to sign a contract extension with PSV. We are ambitious and want to improve our game compared to last season. Ibrahim would like to play his part. It is a big boost for us that he provides clarity early in August.” – PSV director John de Jong stated.
West Ham United and AC Milan are keen on securing his services.
Having come through the ranks at AS Denguele and Toulouse, Ibrahim Sangare signed for PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2020 for a fee in the region of £6.3 million. He has made 98 appearances for the Dutch outfit to date, scoring eight goals and bagging six assists across all competitions. Even this season, the number six has managed to put up some impressive numbers on the board – averaging 2.3 tackles, one interception, one clearance, 1.3 dribbles, and 3 long balls per ninety minutes in the Dutch top flight.
‘He is comfortable on the ball, physically strong and brings experience and stability in midfield, which has made him an indispensable force.’ – stated PSV’s official website.
What Should be Ten Hag’s Play?
Manchester United signed Casemiro from Real Madrid after they failed to land Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona. Although it’s too early to judge the Brazilian’s performance, he was far from impressive in the game against Real Sociedad. Erik Ten Hag could do with a young and energetic defensive midfielder at his disposal, and Ibrahim Sangre fits the bill perfectly. At 24, he’ll only get better with each passing season, so it won’t be surprising if United splash the cash to secure his signature in the upcoming transfer window.
