Everton will clash with Liverpool as they welcome them to Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon for the first Merseyside derby this season. The Toffees were held to a 1-1 draw against Leeds United, so they will be looking to turn things around and get better results. On the other hand, the Reds came out victorious after defeating Newcastle United to a scoreline of 2-1 in their last outing.

Everton Vs Liverpool: Talking Tactics

Frank Lampard will probably utilise the 4-3-3 formation as he could finally allow Neal Maupay to make his debut a week after he joined the club. The Brighton & Hove Albion forward would lead the line against Liverpool’s backline.

Jurgen Klopp will go with the conventional 4-3-3 formation as he looks to make use of the same starting XI with only a single change in the midfield. Jordan Henderson was seen limping off in the win against Newcastle, so he would be unlikely to feature in the next fixture which could allow Fabio Carvalho to start instead.

Team News

The Toffees remain without the services of Yerry Mina, Ben Godfrey, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Mason Holgate and Andros Townsend due to injury setbacks, although Lampard was able to bolster his ranks with a couple of deadline-day signings with Idrissa Gueye returning from Paris Saint Germain and James Garner joining from Manchester United. They could both make their debuts this weekend if the paperwork follows through.

Everton predicted XI

Pickford; Patterson, Coady, Tarkowski, Mykolenko; Iwobi, Onana, Davies; Gordon, Maupay. Gray

Darwin Nunez is back after a three-match suspension but would likely take a spot on the bench with Roberto Firmino in great form. Joel Matip and Curtis Jones were both seen on the bench in the midweek, so they could be available for selection this time around. Diogo Jota could return to the bench after recovering from his injury but Ibrahima Konate, Calvin Ramsay and Caoimhin Kelleher all remain sidelined.

Liverpool Predicted XI

Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Elliott, Fabinho, Carvalho; Salah, Firmino, Diaz
