Manchester United welcomed Real Sociedad at Old Trafford earlier tonight as they focused on securing a positive result in front of their home supporters. The Red Devils made a solid start to the game but struggled to be decisive in the final third as they went into the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.

Sociedad were awarded a penalty in the 59th minute which Brias Mendez scored to put the visitors 1-0 up on the night. Man United failed to come up with a response and suffered a 1-0 loss at the Theatre of Dreams.

Let’s take a look at how each Manchester United player fared during the match against Real Sociedad.

GK: David de Gea – 6/10

The Spaniard made a couple of solid saves at the back but failed to stop Brias Mendez’s penalty in the second half.

RB: Diogo Dalot – 6.5/10

The Portuguese talent made one crucial interception and one good chance during his time on the pitch.

CB: Harry Maguire – 6/10

He did what was required of him at the back but failed to keep a clean sheet once again.

CB: Victor Lindelof – 6.5/10

Lindelof made a few important clearances inside his half. He was strong in the air as well.

LB: Tyrell Malacia – 6.5/10

Malacia did his best when defending at the back and was also quite lively in the Sociedad half.

CM: Casemiro – 6.5/10

The Brazilian talent anchored the midfield well and was a threat going forward.

CM: Christian Eriksen – 6.5/10

The Danish sensation created two good chances in the first half. He got substituted at half-time.

RW: Antony – 6.5/10

He made two driving runs with the ball and failed to find the back of the net.

CAM: Fred – 6.5/10

The Brazilian talent got back to defend when needed and engineered two good chances in the final third.

LW: Anthony Elanga – 7/10

He did his fair share of defending and made some excellent runs with the ball down the left flank.

ST: Cristiano Ronaldo – 5.5/10

The Portuguese striker was a frustrated figure inside the Sociedad half and wasted some decent chances to get his name on the scoresheet.


CB: Lisandro Martinez – 6/10

He gave away a penalty which cost his team the result.

CAM: Bruno Fernandes – 6.5/10

Fernandes made two decent chances on the attacking end of the field.

LW: Jadon Sancho – 6/10

He made one good run with the ball.

RM: Alejandro Garnacho – 6/10

Garnacho made one good chance in the final third.

ST: Charlie McNeill – N/A

He hardly had any time to influence the game.
