Real Madrid faced off against Eintracht Frankfurt at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium earlier tonight as they hoped to secure a win and lift the UEFA Super Cup. Los Blancos made a slow start to the game but got their noses ahead in the 37th minute courtesy of David Alaba’s finish from close range. Carlo Ancelotti’s men controlled the match well and went into the half-time break 1-0 up on the scoreline.
Karim Benzema put daylight between the two sides as he scored in the 65th minute. The Madrid giants ended up winning the contest by an impressive 2-0 scoreline.

The Frenchman performed his defensive duties well and had a few bright moments in the final third.

The experienced midfielder made a couple of decent chances in the Frankfurt half but ran out of gas and got substituted in the 66th minute.
CM: Casemiro – 8.5/10
The Brazilian talent offered adequate protection for his teammates at the back and was a real threat in the final third. He ended the game with an assist to his name.

Kroos got back to defend when needed and engineered some meaningful openings in the attacking end of the field.

Valverde showed some flashes of what he is capable of but never looked like he would score.

The French marksman was a constant menace in the final third and got his name on the scoresheet with a right-footed strike in the second half.

His pace caused a few problems for the Frankfurt defenders. He picked up an assist for setting up Benzema’s goal.
