In a recent report, ESPN mentioned that Manchester United have been offered a chance to land Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata this summer. It has been revealed that the Red Devils have been given an opportunity to secure the services of the Spanish centre-forward during this summer transfer period.
Morata’s Decent Form On Loan At Juventus Last Season
The 29-year-old spent time on loan at Juventus last season when he managed to produce a handful of productive displays as the spearhead of their attack. Morata banged in 12 goals and earned nine assists in 48 matches for the Italian club in the previous campaign across all fronts.
The Spanish talent led the line well by averaging 1.7 shots, 1.3 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per game in Serie A. He even linked up play well with others around him after making 75.7% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
At the moment, Morata is facing an uncertain future at the Wanda Metropolitano. Hence, it is no surprise that Man United are being offered a chance to sign the Spaniard this month.
Is Morata A Good Option For Manchester United Boss Erik Ten Hag?
Morata is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in on target. He can be a streaky goal-getter in front of the opponent’s goal and can even engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates in the attacking end of the field. Morata mainly operates as a central striker but can also function as a left-sided winger if his manager tells him to play in such a role.
The Spanish sensation can even make some clever runs with the ball. However, he failed to prove his worth as a consistent goal-scorer in the Premier League during his previous spell at Chelsea. Hence, Morata will be a good yet risky option for the Red Devils to pursue before the end of this summer transfer window.
At 29, the Atletico Madrid attacker has still got a few good years left in him. We can expect Morata to add more goals and creativity to Erik ten Hag‘s attack at Old Trafford. He could even help the Mancunian club challenge for a top-four place in the Premier League this season. Thus, ten Hag should consider moving in for the La Liga marksman during this summer transfer period as long as he is confident about getting the best out of the player.
