Salah Gets 7, Milner With 5 | Liverpool Players Rated In Poor Loss Vs Manchester United

Liverpool clashed heads with Manchester United at Anfield earlier tonight as they looked to earn their first win of this Premier League campaign. The Reds made a poor start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 16th minute when Jadon Sancho found the back of the net with a good finish. The Merseyside club struggled to settle into the game and went into the half-time break 1-0 down on the scoreline.

Jurgen Klopp’s men controlled the game more early in the second half but conceded their second goal in the 53rd minute when Marcus Rashford scored with a clinical finish. Mohamed Salah got a goal back for Liverpool but it was too little too late as the Reds crashed to a poor 2-1 loss on the road.

Let’s take a look at how each Liverpool player performed during the match against the Red Devils.

GK: Alisson Becker – 6/10

The Brazilian keeper had a lot of nervy moments at the back and failed to save either of Man United’s goals. It was a night to forget for him.

RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold – 5/10

The English full-back got caught out defensively a handful of times and failed to deliver a decisive pass in the final third.

CB: Joe Gomez – 5/10

Gomez looked shaky and unsettled at the back. He struggled to cope with Man United’s counter-attacks.

CB: Virgil Van Dijk – 5/10

The Dutch defender was too passive in the lead-up to Sancho’s goal. He failed to sense the danger quickly in the second half as well.

LB: Andrew Robertson – 6/10

Robertson struggled to stretch the pitch and was always back-peddling when defending inside his half. He was a bit better in the second half.

CM: Harvey Elliott – 6.5/10

Elliott linked up play well with others around him and won a good header in the lead-up to Salah’s goal.

CM: Jordan Henderson – 5/10

The Liverpool captain failed to gain control of the midfield battle and gave away the ball cheaply which led to Rashford’s goal.

CM: James Milner – 5/10

Milner had a horror first half as he was second-best to most challenges which was unlike him. He got sold by Sancho’s trickery in the lead-up to the opener.

RW: Mohamed Salah – 7/10

Salah was always a threat down the right flank and popped up with a consolation goal in the 81st minute.

ST: Roberto Firmino – 5/10

The Brazilian forward hardly got a sniff at goal and was quiet for most of the game.

LW: Luis Diaz – 6.5/10

He was always willing to get on the ball but never looked like he would score tonight.

Substitutes:

CM: Fabinho – 6/10

He brought some control to Liverpool’s midfield.

CM: Fabio Carvalho – 7/10

Carvalho made an instant impact off the bench and had a few close sights at goal.

LB: Kostas Tsimikas – N/A

He didn’t get enough minutes to warrant a rating.
