According to a report from Sky Sports, West Ham United have reportedly agreed on a transfer fee of £35.5m for Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca. It is understood that the Hammers are now discussing personal terms with the Italian forward before they finalise the deal.
Scamacca’s Impressive Run Of Form In The Serie A
Gianluca Scamacca has produced some solid performances in the attacking end of the field as he enjoyed an impressive campaign in the Italian top flight. He has managed to find the back of the net on sixteen occasions for the Italian outfit across all competitions in his last campaign.
The Rome-born talent has been productive in the final third after averaging 2.2 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per game in the Serie A. However, he needs to improve on his ball distribution after only completing 74% of his attempted passes in the Italian top-flight (stats via whoscored).
What Could He Bring To West Ham United?
Scamacca is an attacking threat inside the penalty box. Standing at 1.96 m, his tall and strong frame makes it difficult for his opponents to stop him in his tracks when he is on the front foot. He is a goal-scoring machine who excels at converting opportunities created by his teammates. The Italian forward can strike the ball with power and accuracy to find the back of the net on multiple occasions.
The Hammers are in dire need of a striker, especially one who can create a difference in big matches and Scamacca fits the bill perfectly. The 23-year-old has the potential to become one of the best strikers in the Premier League and he could easily add more firepower to West Ham’s attack.
The Italian hitman would be a brilliant addition to David Moyes’ frontline. So the Hammers’ boss has done well to acquire him before the next campaign commences.
