Despite missing out on a few key targets, Celtic have done well so far this summer in terms of transfer business. They have made the loan deals permanent for both Filipe Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers, whereas the arrivals of Benjamin Siegrist and Alexandro Bernabei should bolster them further in the defensive third. The Hoops are now after a new midfielder and according to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas, a bid of around £2m is being prepared for Paris St-Germain teenager Edouard Michut.

Michut spent his youth stints with FC Le Chesnay 78 and Versailles before being roped in by the French heavyweights. He mostly spent his time in their academy ranks apart from a few first-team appearances last season. The 19-year-old midfield prospect featured 8 times under Mauricio Pochettinho across competitions, but he does not have an immediate future in the star-studded PSG side which has triggered a potential move.

As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Ligue 1 winners are open to listening to offers for the midfielder. Although he still has three years left in his current contract, the availability of the teenager in a minuscule figure has alerted the Glasgow giants who benefitted immensely last time by roping in another Edouard (Odsonne) from the Parisians.

Celtic scripted a miraculous turnaround following Ange Postecoglou’s arrival. The Aussie boss has been spot on with his signings as the likes of Matt O’Riley, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi are expected to deliver week in week out. David Turnbull has a bright future, also skipper Callum McGregor has exhibited his versatility in the middle of the park.

Why It’s A Smart Move From Celtic

Having said that, the Bhoys lost two of their midfield veterans last term. Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton have left the club, moreover, they have offloaded Ismaila Soro and Luca Connell who failed to leave a mark.

McGregor has restored stability as a deep-lying playmaker, but the gaffer must bring in someone to challenge and cover the prolific Scotsman. They also need a long-term replacement for Rogic given his contribution over the years. The Aussie wizard is still adored for his creative spark from an advanced midfield role and Michut, composed and confident as a ‘number 10’, ticks many boxes to emulate the Socceroos international’s success for years to come.
