In a recent report, Gazzetta Dello Sport offered an update on Arsenal and their pursuit of Sassuolo forward Gianluca Scamacca. It is believed that the Gunners have seen their €40m bid rejected for the player but are willing to make another attempt to bring the Italy international to the English capital.
Scamacca’s Impressive Form At The Mapei Stadium
Scamacca has produced a run of positive displays while spearheading the Sassuolo attack. The 23-year-old has registered 16 goals and one assist in 38 matches for the Italian club this season across all competitions.
The Roma-born sensation has caught the eye at times by averaging 2.2 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he needs to work on improving his ball distribution after he made 74% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
What Will Scamacca Bring To Arsenal?
Scamacca has got the knack for scoring a lot of important goals for his team. He has established himself as a prolific finisher in the final third but needs to add a few more assists to his game if he wants to be a success story at a club like Arsenal in the future.
Standing at 1.95m, Scamacca can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition in the air and can hold possession up quite effectively for his team in the final third.
At 23, Scamacca will only get better with each year which makes him a good option for the Gunners to consider during this summer transfer period. We can expect the four-time Italy international to bring plenty of goals and physicality to Mikel Arteta‘s attack at the North London club.
Scamacca ticks all the right boxes in terms of what the Arsenal head coach looks for in his attackers. He could even help the Gunners get back to challenging for a top-four spot in Premier League football next season. Thus, Arteta should go back in with another bid for him during the summer transfer window.
