In a recent report, The Sun stated that Manchester City have entered the race for the Barca wonder kid Gavi. It has also been mentioned that the Sky Blues, along with their rivals Liverpool, are deeply interested in bringing him over to their side as the Catalans seem unable to conclude their contract talks due to financial troubles.

Gavi’s Impressive Debut Campaign For Barcelona

The 17-year-old has had a solid debut for Barcelona’s senior team. He has done well to impress in the central areas of the pitch. He has managed to establish himself as a key player appearing in 45 matches for the Spanish giants this season, making the most out of his appearances by scoring 2 goals and creating five assists.

The Spain U-21 international has produced some excellent displays in the midfield, attracting interest from Pep Guardiola. He has performed consistently under Xavi, after averaging 0.9 shots, 0.6 key passes and 1.6 dribbles per game in the La Liga. He has been exceptional in distributing possession as he completed 89.3% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).

Should Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola Go All In?

The Barca wonder kid excels at holding the ball in the central areas of the field, and his quickness and agility make him an exceptional dribbler. He can create space for himself and comfortably play his way out of tricky positions in between defenders.

The Spanish midfielder is no doubt one of the brightest young talents produced in the academy. He has the potential to become one of the finest midfielders in Europe and has also garnered attention from various coaches, including Pep Guardiola, who deems him a great talent at his age.

The youngest goal scorer for Spain is adept at distributing possession and setting up his teammates with some clear-cut goal-scoring chances in the final third. He is primarily a central midfielder but is versatile enough to virtually play anywhere in the final third except in the centre-forward role, which makes him a brilliant addition to any club.

However, the Etihad Club and the Reds might both be unable to grab hold of such a high calibre player because his current contract terms with the Catalan side would make it difficult as the contract would seek to increase his release clause to a staggering £85.8m next month. City boss Pep Guardiola would be unable to get that sort of money since the Sky Blues have nearly used most of their funds in signing Erling Haaland, which was a necessity. Although a deal could take place if Barcelona’s contract talks with Gavi breakdown, which would allow him to leave for free.
