In a recent interview with Caughtoffside, Michael Thomas urged his former club Liverpool to move in for Borussia Dortmund playmaker Jude Bellingham. Thomas said,
“I also firmly believe Liverpool will be in for Jude Bellingham if the opportunity ever arises, though that will probably be one for next summer. I’d be very happy with Phillips or Bellingham for the midfield.”
Bellingham’s Rich Vein Of Form At Signal Iduna Park Last Season
Bellingham had a brilliant campaign with Dortmund recently as he managed to produce a lot of productive displays at the heart of their midfield. The England international registered six goals and 14 assists in 44 appearances for the German club last season on all fronts.
The 18-year-old proved himself to be a consistent performer at the centre of the park by averaging 1.6 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.4 shots, 1.2 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. He was even accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 83.7% in league football (stats via whoscored).
Is Bellingham A Dream Option For Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp?
Bellingham can do a little bit of everything at the centre of the park. He is a decent tackler of the ball and can chase the opposition down well off the ball. The English talent has got the vision to create a handful of promising chances for his teammates in the final third. He can even chip in by scoring some important goals for his team.
At 18, Bellingham has already established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Bundesliga. Hence, Liverpool will do well to listen to Michael Thomas’ advice by moving in for the English prospect this summer.
Bellingham will enhance the quality of Jurgen Klopp‘s first XI in the long run. He would even add more energy and dynamism to the Reds‘ midfield and is good enough to help them challenge for a lot of major trophies in the coming seasons. Therefore, Bellingham will be a dream option for Klopp to consider this summer or at the end of next season.
