In a recent interview (via The Daily Mail), Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans addressed his future amid recent interest from Arsenal. Tielemans said,
‘That is not out of the question. I feel very good at Leicester, I was welcomed with open arms from day one. I give everything for the club until the last day.
‘But of course you have to listen to other opportunities, you have to look at your career, and sometimes you have to make choices. Maybe one will come my way.’
Tielemans’ Impressive Form In English Football
Tielemans experienced another decent campaign at the King Power Stadium recently after performing at a consistent level for the Foxes in the Premier League. The 49-time Belgian international has banged in seven goals and grabbed five assists in 50 appearances for the East Midlands club this season across all competitions.
The 25-year-old has performed well to average 2.3 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 1.1 clearances, 1.8 shots, 1.2 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from midfield as he made 83.5% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Is Tielemans A Good Option For Arsenal Head Coach Mikel Arteta?
Tielemans is a tough-tackling midfielder who can time his tackles well to secure the ball back for his side at the centre of the park. He can offer decent cover for his teammates on the defensive end of the field and can strike the ball with power and precision from long range.
The Belgian sensation can even make a few clever runs with the ball in the opponent’s half and has got the vision to set up some meaningful openings for his teammates in the attacking third of the field.
A complete midfielder of Tielemans’ quality will be a welcome addition to Arsenal‘s match-day squad. He will no doubt enhance the quality of Mikel Arteta‘s first XI and could help them secure a top-four place in the 2022-23 Premier League campaign.
