Aston Villa, under Steven Gerrard, are eyeing a resurgence by securing an array of promising names for the upcoming campaign. But they are also willing to listen to offers for their fringe stars who are no more in the manager’s plans. Trézéguet, the out-of-favour Egyptian, is drawing interest from Turkey after an impressive loan spell with İstanbul Başakşehir. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Süper Lig champions Trabzonspor have made an official approach to tie down the wingman.

The 27-year-old Egypt international began his career at Al Ahly before plying his trade to Anderlecht. However, he failed to cement a starting status for the Belgian heavyweights which eventually saw him completing successive loan stints with Mouscron and Kasımpaşa. Trézéguet enjoyed a majestic spell in Istanbul and the latter, therefore, triggered the option to buy clause to make the transfer permanent.

His emergence in Turkey was not unnoticed and Aston Villa, promoted to the Premier League under Dean Smith, snapped him up in the summer of 2019. Although he was regular in the first two campaigns, back-to-back injuries cost him his place following the arrival of Leon Bailey and Phillipe Coutinho. The attacker needed first-team football to regain fitness and the winter loan to İstanbul Başakşehir helped him regain his form and confidence.

Why The Exit Of The Aston Villa Attacker is A Win-Win For All Parties Involved

With 6 goals in 10 Super Lig appearances, Trézéguet is back on the radar of many suitors including Trabzonspor. His current deal at Villa Park expires next year and Steven Gerrard, the Villa chief, does not fancy the winger in his future plans. The rise of Jacob Ramsey has sent him further down the pecking order, whereas the reputation and pulling power of the gaffer should see them roping in more prolific names ahead of the upcoming term.

Meanwhile, the wide attacking ace spent several successful years in Turkey and the familiar surroundings of Super Lig football must offer him assured gametime high up the pitch. Villa, too, should welcome all the proposals to grab a financial boost and Trézéguet, amid uncertainties over his future in Birmingham, is expected to make the move if a deal is agreed in the due course of time.
