Aston Villa entertained Crystal Palace at Villa Park earlier today as they focused on securing all three points in front of their home supporters. The Villans made a strong start to the game but were held to a scoreless draw at the half-time break.

Ollie Watkins finally broke the deadlock for the home side in the 69th minute. However, Jeffrey Schlupp equalised for the Eagles just 12 minutes later with a good finish from close range as the contest concluded with Steven Gerrard’s men being held to a frustrating 1-1 draw at home.

Let’s take a look at how each Aston Villa player performed during the clash against the Eagles.

GK: Emiliano Martinez – 6.5/10

The Argentine keeper made a few important saves but will be disappointed after conceding a late goal.

RB: Matty Cash – 6.5/10

Cash performed his defensive duties really well but lacked quality in the final third.

CB: Ezri Konsa – 7/10

He earned the ball back a couple of times but could last only 49 minutes.

CB: Tyrone Mings – 6/10

Mings made a handful of crucial clearances at the back and was tidy with his passing.

He got stuck in with some crunching tackles and made two good runs from midfield.

CM: John McGinn – 7.5/10

McGinn made a few solid challenges to make life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park. He was also a constant menace in the Palace half.
