Kounde’s Decent Form At The Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium
Kounde is experiencing another solid season in Spain after producing a handful of dominant displays at the heart of Sevilla’s backline. The 23-year-old has registered three goals and secured one assist in 41 appearances for the Spanish club during this campaign across all fronts.
The French sensation has caught the eye by averaging 1.3 tackles, 0.7 interceptions and 3.2 clearances per game in La Liga. He has even been accurate with his ball distribution as evidenced by his pass success rate of 88.5% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Should Chelsea Boss Thomas Tuchel Get Kounde On Board This Summer?
Kounde can be a rock at the back when he is playing well on the field. He is often quick to react to the danger and doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition are on the offensive. The French talent is a solid tackler of the ball as well and can even get back to make a few last-ditch blocks when needed. He is primarily a central defender but can even fill in as a right-back.
Furthermore, Kounde is proficient at playing his way out from the back which makes him a perfect fit for Thomas Tuchel‘s style of play at Stamford Bridge. He will be a good signing for the Blues if they can get a deal over the line for him in the summer.
At 23, Kounde is a player on the rise and would add a lot of bite and steel to Chelsea‘s defence. He could even help the West London outfit challenge for a few major trophies over the next few seasons. Thus, Tuchel would be wise to orchestrate a move to get Kounde on board when the transfer window commences later this summer.
