Rudiger’s Growing Influence At Stamford Bridge This Season
Rudiger is having a dominant season in West London where he has put in several solid defensive displays as one of Thomas Tuchel’s primary centre-halves. The German international has made 49 appearances for the Blues during this campaign, netting five goals and securing four assists in all competitions.
The Berlin-born talent has been a rock at the back based on his average of 1.3 tackles, 0.8 interceptions and 2.6 clearances per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He has even been excellent with his ball distribution from the back, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 87.6% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
What Will Rudiger Add To Real Madrid Head Coach Carlo Ancelotti’s Team?
Standing at 1.90m, Rudiger can use his powerful frame to dominate the opposition in the air. The 29-year-old is a good tackler of the ball and is quick to spot the danger on the defensive end of the field. He can be a potent threat in the air from indirect set-pieces and excels at playing his way out from the back.
A defender of Rudiger’s skillset will no doubt be a great addition to Real Madrid‘s squad in the off-season. We can expect the 50-time Germany international to add a lot of quality to Carlo Ancelotti‘s defence at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the coming seasons.
At 29, Rudiger is playing at his prime right now, so Ancelotti would believe that he can get the best out of the player in the Spanish capital over the next couple of seasons. The Chelsea defensive ace could even help Los Blancos win a few more trophies which makes him a perfect option for them this summer.
