In a recent tweet, Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg stated that Manchester United are showing serious interest in Ajax defender Jurrien Timber. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils are hoping to land the Dutch centre-back during the summer transfer window.

Timber’s Impressive Campaign In Dutch Football
The 20-year-old is having a great season with Ajax as he has produced a handful of dominant displays at the centre of their defence. Timber has registered three goals and two assists in 43 matches for the Amsterdam club during this campaign in all competitions.
The Dutch sensation has proven himself to be a rock at the back by averaging 2.4 tackles, 1.7 interceptions and 1.4 clearances per game in the Dutch Eredivisie. He has even taken good care of the ball when interchanging possession with his teammates, based on his pass success rate of 91.5% in the top tier of Dutch football (stats via whoscored).

Is Timber A Good Fit For Manchester United This Summer?
Timber can get stuck in with a few solid tackles to make life difficult for the opposition attackers. He is usually quick to scan the danger and can make some important interceptions on the defensive end of the field.
The Dutch defensive ace doesn’t take too many risks when clearing his lines at the back. He is also an accurate passer of the ball and excels at playing his way out from the back. Therefore, Timber will be an excellent fit for Man United‘s next manager, Erik ten Haag’s brand of football next season.
At 20, the future is quite bright for the Utrecht-born talent as long as he continues to take strides towards improving himself over the next few years. Thus, the Red Devils should think about orchestrating a move to bring him to Old Trafford ahead of the new campaign. He could serve as an ideal replacement for Victor Lindelof who has struggled to be consistent with his performances at the Theatre of Dreams this season. All in all, it makes sense for the Mancunian giants to move in for the Dutch sensation this summer.
