Liverpool are set to face Southampton at the St. Mary’s on Tuesday night, both hoping to triumph over the other. The Reds remain with two League fixtures ahead of the UCL final against Real Madrid. The remainder of this season remains paramount for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The Reds were victorious over their rivals Chelsea in the FA Cup final defeating them 5-6 over penalties. They are now desperate to win the next two fixtures in the hopes of lifting the Premier League crown.
The Saints recorded a humiliating 3-0 defeat at the hands of Brentford last weekend which gives them all the more reason to return to winning ways in the midweek clash.
Fabinho misses out on both the premier league matches ahead of the UCL final dealing with a hamstring problem. Andrew Robertson will start on the bench having picked up a cramp. Mohammed Salah, alongside Van Dijk, came off with minor setbacks in the dramatic FA Cup final and they remain doubtful to start in the next fixture.
Jurgen Klopp will probably opt for the 4-3-3 formation but will look to bench some key players.
Liverpool Predicted XI
Alisson; Gomez, Matip, Konate, Tsimikas; Jones, Henderson, Keita; Jota, Firmino, Diaz
The Saints remain in good shape barring long-term absentee Valentino Livramento. The rest of the squad remains fit for first-team selection.
Ralph Hasenhüttl will once again opt for a 4-4-2 formation and could make one change to his first XI for this game.
Southampton Predicted XI
Forster; Walker-Peters, Bednarek, Salisu, Perraud; Redmond, Ward-Prowse, Romeu, S. Armstrong; Adams, Broja
The Reds will rely on the creativity of Jota, Firmino and Diaz as they look to collectively produce a winning performance on Tuesday.
Keita will be tasked with creating chances for the attacking trio, whereas Alisson will be expected to make some solid stops at the back.
Forster will have to give a strong performance at the back if the Saints are to keep a clean sheet in this game. Adams and Broja will carry most of the goal-scoring responsibility.
Ward-Prowse will be tasked with distributing the ball efficiently and creating chances for the men upfront.
