Manchester United locked horns with Brighton and Hove Albion at the American Express Community Stadium earlier today as they hoped to earn all three points away from home. The Red Devils made a poor start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the 15th minute when Moises Caicedo found the back of the net for the home side. Man United failed to come up with a response and went into the half-time break 1-0 down on the scoreline.

Ralf Rangnick’s men conceded another goal in the 49th minute when Marc Cucurella scored for the Seagulls. Brighton went on to score two more times, thanks to a goal each from Pascal Gross and Leandro Trossard. The match ended with Man United suffering a humiliating 4-0 loss on the road.

Let’s take a look at how each Man United player fared during the clash against the Seagulls.

GK: David de Gea – 5/10

The Spanish keeper made a couple of saves but ended up conceding four goals today.

RB: Diogo Dalot – 7.5/10

He had to do a lot of defending and made a few decent runs with the ball down the right flank.

CB: Victor Lindelof – 5.5/10

Lindelof made a few important clearances but looked defensively vulnerable, especially in the second half.

CB: Raphael Varane – 6/10

The Frenchman cleared his lines when required but failed to stop the Brighton attackers from wreaking havoc after the half-time break.

LB: Alex Telles – 6/10

The Brazilian worked hard defensively and made one good chance in the final third.

CM: Scott McTominay – 5.5/10

He came back to clear the danger at times but offered very little going forward.

CM: Nemanja Matic – 6.5/10

Matic got stuck in with some solid tackles and engineered one good move in the opponent’s half. He got replaced at half-time.

RW: Anthony Elanga – 6/10

He was quiet in the first half and was substituted at the half-time break.

CAM: Juan Mata – 6/10

The Spaniard had some bright moments in the attacking end of the field but didn’t do enough to find the back of the net.

LW: Bruno Fernandes – 7/10

Fernandes was a constant threat in front of the Brighton goal. However, he struggled to finish off his chances.

ST: Cristiano Ronaldo – 5.5/10

The Portuguese striker was a frustrated figure in the Brighton half and didn’t have his shooting boots on today.

CM: Fred – 6.5/10

He added some energy to Rangnick’s midfield.

ST: Edinson Cavani – 6/10

Cavani was a threat up top.

CB: Harry Maguire – 6.5/10

He came off the bench to stop the bleeding.
