Leeds United will lock horns with Chelsea at Elland Road on Wednesday night, looking to take the three points on their home turf. The Whites come into the match on the back of an embarrassing 1-2 defeat at the hands of Arsenal, whereas the Blues remained grounded at 2-2 with Wolves.
The Whites are in a bind as they find themselves in the relegation zone standing at eighteenth in the Premier League table, right below Burnley who hover above them.
Team News
The Whites remain without the services of Liam Cooper as he is still recovering from a knee injury. Stuart Dallas misses out having undergone surgery. Adam Forshaw and Patrick Bamford remain sidelined for the rest of the season.
Furthermore, Luke Ayling is set to miss out due to a three-game ban from his red card suspension in the last match.
Jesse Marsch could set his team up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and will have to make the necessary changes to his first XI for this game. Robin Koch, Junior Firpo and Daniel James will probably get the nod to play from the start as Marsch remains with fewer options.
4-2-3-1 Leeds United Predicted Lineup Vs Chelsea
Defence
Illan Meslier will start in goal for the upcoming encounter. The French shot-stopper would hope to put up a strong performance as Leeds haven’t secured a clean sheet in the last 10 matches.
Koch will form the centre-half partnership with Struijk at the heart of the Whites’ backline.
Junior Firpo and Diego Llorente are set to start in the wing-back positions. They will look to stretch the opposition’s defence and create chances for the forwards.
Midfield
Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich will anchor the midfield as they look to exploit Chelsea’s defence. The duo would be determined to set up some clear-cut goal-scoring chances for the men up front.
Raphinha and Jack Harrison will take up the wide positions, playing down the right and left-wing, respectively. James will remain in the central attacking midfield to bolster the attack.
Attack
Gelhardt might lead the line against the Sky Blues, and the striker will fancy his chances of finding the back of the net.
