Everton faced off against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium earlier today as they hoped to end the season on a high by picking up a result on the road. The Toffees made a lackluster start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 27th minute when Gabriel Martinelli scored from the penalty spot. Eddie Nketiah doubled the home side’s advantage just four minutes later. However, Everton got a goal back in the first half injury-time when Donny van de Beek found the back of the net. The Toffees were trailing 2-1 at half-time.
Frank Lampard’s men were atrocious in the second half as they shipped in three more times courtesy of a goal each from Cedric Soares, Gabriel and Martin Odegaard respectively. The contest ended with the Merseyside outfit suffering a poor 5-1 loss in the English capital.
