Real Madrid entertained Chelsea at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium earlier tonight as they looked to defend a 3-1 lead from the first leg. Los Blancos made a sloppy start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the 15th minute when Mason Mount found the back of the net. The Madrid giants failed to come up with a response and went into the half-time break 1-0 down on the scoreline.
Antonio Rudiger made it 2-0 to the Blues just six minutes into the second half with a powerful header. Real Madrid crumbled under the pressure and shipped in another goal in the 75th minute when Timo Werner got his name on the scoresheet. However, Rodrygo leveled the tie (4-4 on aggregate) just five minutes later which took the game to extra time.
Karim Benzema scored for Los Blancos in the 96th minute with a good finish. Carlo Ancelotti’s men defended their lead well in extra time and managed to grind out a 5-4 win on aggregate which ensured their place in the semifinal stage of the UEFA Champions League.
