Manchester United clashed heads with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium earlier today as they looked to earn a positive result on their travels. The Red Devils made a poor start to the contest as they conceded the opening goal in the third minute when Nuno Tavares found the back of the net. Bukayo Saka doubled Arsenal’s advantage after successfully converting his penalty in the 32nd minute. Just two minutes later, Cristiano Ronaldo gave Man United a lifeline as he scored with a good finish from close range. Ralf Rangnick’s men went into the half-time interval 2-1 down on the scoreline.

Granit Xhaka made the points secure for the home side in the 70th minute with a powerful strike from long range. The match ended with Man United suffering a 3-1 loss in the English capital.

Let’s take a look at how each Man United player fared during the clash against the Gunners.

GK: David de Gea – 6/10

The Spanish goalie made a few crucial saves at the back but couldn’t stop Arsenal from netting three goals during the 90 minutes.

RB: Diogo Dalot – 6.5/10

He was unfortunate to hit the crossbar. Dalot had a bright game going forward but lacked conviction when defending inside his half.

CB: Victor Lindelof – 5.5/10

Lindelof looked shaky at the back and produced a lackluster display during the game.

CB: Raphael Varane – 6/10

The French talent made a lot of important clearances on the defensive third of the pitch but failed to stop Arsenal from wreaking havoc inside his penalty box.

LB: Alex Telles – 6.5/10

He produced a battling display down the left flank but made a few errors of judgment at the back.

CM: Scott McTominay – 6/10

McTominay struggled to protect his backline but showed some fight with his energy in the opponent’s half.

CM: Nemanja Matic – 7/10

He earned possession back a couple of times and picked up an assist for setting up Ronaldo’s goal in the first half.

RW: Anthony Elanga – 6/10

Elanga caused a few problems for the opposition using his pace but didn’t do enough to get his name on the scoresheet.

CAM: Bruno Fernandes – 6/10

The Portuguese playmaker created some decent chances for his teammates in the final third but was guilty of missing a penalty which cost Man United the result.

LW: Jadon Sancho – 6.5/10

Sancho made a few intelligent runs with the ball but never looked like he would score.

ST: Cristiano Ronaldo – 7/10

Ronaldo was a constant threat in front of the Arsenal goal and deserves credit for scoring with a good finish in the 34th minute.

Substitutes:

LW: Marcus Rashford – 6/10

He struggled to influence the game on the attacking end of the field.

RW: Jesse Lingard – 6/10

Lingard had a quiet game after coming on in the 76th minute.

CAM: Juan Mata – N/A

He hardly had any time to make an impact.
