Recent reports from The Daily Mail suggest that Liverpool are ‘in talks’ to sign RB Salzburg centre-forward Karim Adeyemi in the upcoming transfer window as Jurgen Klopp looks set to add to his attacking options ahead of the 2022/23 season.
Klopp has been a long-term admirer of the German international; however, it’s Borussia Dortmund who are leading the race for his signature at the moment. The Bundesliga club view him as the ideal candidate to replace Erling Haaland in the long term. The same is the case with Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain, who wish to sign Adeyemi as a replacement for Real Madrid target Kylian Mbappe.
‘It has been reported a fee in the region of £35million would be enough to secure the services of the Munich-born forward.’ – The report stated.
Having come through the ranks at SpVgg Unterhaching, Adeyemi signed for RB Salzburg in December 2019 for a fee in the region of €3 million. Over the course of the last three seasons, the German forward has scored thirty goals and bagged twenty assists in eighty-eight appearances for the Red Bulls, winning two league titles and two domestic cups in the process.
Having scored sixteen goals in the Austrian Bundesliga in just 24 appearances so far this season, the 20-year-old has established himself as one of the hottest properties in European football, so it is clear why some of Europe’s biggest clubs are ready to break the bank for his signature.
With attributes like pace, finishing, physicality, versatility, and a low centre of gravity, Adeyemi can run riot almost singlehandedly across the best defences in the world on his day. Besides, it goes without saying that his explosive style of play would undoubtedly fulfil Jurgen Klopp’s demands at Anfield.
Klopp Must Make The Call
Divock Origi has been linked with a move to AC Milan, whereas there are significant doubts regarding the futures of Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino. Furthermore, Sadio Mane turns 31 next year. Given the circumstances, Klopp should be looking to bolster his forward line with young superstars – and Karim Adeyemi fits the bill perfectly.
The German tactician has rarely failed to hit the target when it comes to new signings, with Luis Diaz being the latest example. The Colombian winger has enjoyed a dream start to life in England, causing absolute mayhem for defenders in the Premier League and Champions League. Hence, the Reds should find a way to pounce for Adeyemi if Klopp sees his potential.
