Chelsea locked horns with Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium earlier today as they hoped to secure a positive result on the road. The Blues made an electric start to the game and took the lead in the eight-minute courtesy of Marcos Alonso’s strike. Mason Mount doubled Chelsea’s advantage just eight minutes later with a great strike from outside the box. In the 21st minute, Timo Werner got his name on the scoresheet before Kai Havertz made it 4-0 to the Blues just ten minutes later with an easy finish. Chelsea were leading 4-0 at half-time.

Werner scored again in the 49th minute before Mount put the icing on the cake with another goal just five minutes later. Thomas Tuchel’s men kept a solid shape and cruised to a dominant 6-0 win away from home.

Let’s take a look at how each Chelsea player fared during the match against the Saints.

GK: Edouard Mendy – 7/10

The Senegalese keeper had to make one save in the game and secured an easy clean sheet today.

CB: Andreas Christensen – 8/10

He won multiple duels in the air and cleared the danger when needed. Christensen even made one good chance going forward.

CB: Thiago Silva – 7/10

The Brazilian centre-back made two important clearances during the game but was replaced in the 62nd minute.

CB: Antonio Rudiger – 7.5/10

The German talent kept a good defensive shape at the back and did enough to deny the opposition from scoring a goal.

CM: Mateo Kovacic – 8/10

Kovacic made a lot of crucial tackles and created two inviting chances for his teammates in the final third.

LM: Marcos Alonso – 9/10

Alonso opened the goal-scoring for Chelsea with a good strike. He also engineered multiple chances for others around him from the left flank.

CAM: Mason Mount – 10/10

The English sensation had a perfect game in the Southampton half as he scored twice and created one goal during his time on the field.
