Werner Gets 8.5, Mount With 8 | Chelsea Players Rated In Bitter Victory Vs Real Madrid

Chelsea faced off against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium earlier tonight as they looked to overturn a 3-1 deficit from the first leg. The Blues began the game well and opened the goal-scoring in the 15th minute courtesy of Mason Mount’s right-footed strike. Thomas Tuchel’s men controlled the game well and got into the half-time break 1-0 ahead on the night.

Antonio Rudiger scored Chelsea’s second goal with a powerful header in the 51st minute. Timo Werner put his team 3-0 ahead in the 75th minute but Rodrygo got a goal back for Los Blancos just five minutes later which took the match to extra time as it finished 4-4 on aggregate.

Karim Benzema scored the only goal in extra time as the contest finished 3-2 in favour of Thomas Tuchel’s men. However, Chelsea ended up losing the tie on aggregate by a 5-4 scoreline which knocked them out of the UEFA Champions League.

Let’s take a look at how each Chelsea player performed during the clash against Los Blancos.

GK: Edouard Mendy – 6/10

He made a couple of saves during the game but will be disappointed after conceding two goals tonight.

CB: Reece James – 7.5/10

James got stuck in with plenty of tackles and was also quite lively with the ball going forward.

CB: Thiago Silva – 7/10

The Brazilian talent made some crucial defensive contributions and was good on the ball as well.

CB: Antonio Rudiger – 8/10

The German centre-back did his fair share of defending and deserves a pat on the back for keeping the opposition attackers frustrated for most of the game. He also scored a good goal with a solid header early in the second half.
