Aston Villa welcomed Norwich City at Villa Park earlier this afternoon as they focused on earning a win at home. The Villans made a bright start to the contest and got themselves ahead in the 41st minute via Ollie Watkins’ good finish from a tight angle. The West Midlands club went into the half-time interval 1-0 up on the scoreline.

Steven Gerrard’s men sat on their lead well and finally managed to kill the game off in injury time when Danny Ings found the back of the net. The Villans ended up securing an impressive 2-0 win in front of their home supporters.

Let’s take a look at how each Aston Villa player performed during the match against the Canaries.

GK: Emiliano Martinez – 7.5/10

The Argentine keeper made a few crucial saves at the back and secured a well-deserved clean sheet today.

RB: Matty Cash – 7/10

He was defensively solid and had some lively moments in the Norwich City half as well.

CB: Calum Chambers – 7/10

The Villans centre-back got stuck in with some crunching tackles to make life difficult for the opposition attackers. He will be happy with the clean sheet.

CB: Tyronne Mings – 7/10

Mings made a few important interceptions inside his half and cleared the danger when required.

He came off the bench in the first half and picked up a good assist for setting up Watkins’ goal. Ings was unfortunate to hit the crossbar but ended up getting his name on the scoresheet in injury time.
