Arsenal clashed heads with Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium earlier tonight as they looked to earn a positive result on their travels. The Gunners had a sloppy first half as they conceded the opening goal in the 44th minute when Jan Bednarek scored for the Saints. Mikel Arteta’s men went into the half-time break 1-0 down on the scoreline.

The North London giants failed to come up with a response in the second half despite enjoying more of the ball and ended up losing the game by a narrow 1-0 scoreline.

Let’s take a look at how each Arsenal player performed during the match against the Saints.

GK: Aaron Ramsdale – 6.5/10

The English keeper made a couple of saves but will be disappointed after conceding a goal late in the first half.

RB: Cedric Soares – 6.5/10

He was mostly solid at the back and had some lively moments in the final third.

CB: Ben White – 7/10

White got stuck in with a few crunching tackles and made a few important clearances inside his half.

CB: Gabriel – 7.5/10

The Brazilian defensive ace cleared the danger when required and was quite bright on the ball.

LB: Nuno Tavares – 6.5/10

He cleared his lines when needed and made one inviting chance in the opposition half.

CM: Martin Odegaard – 7/10

Odegaard orchestrated a few decent chances in the final third and was a real threat up top.

CM: Albert Sambi Lokonga – 6/10

He failed to offer enough protection for his teammates at the back but made two decent chances on the attacking end of the field.

CM: Granit Xhaka – 7/10

Xhaka tried his best to protect his backline and had some lively moments in the opponent’s half.

RW: Gabriel Martinelli – 6/10

Martinelli caused a few problems for the Southampton defenders but failed to register a goal.

ST: Eddie Nketiah – 6/10

The Gunners forward showed some glimpses of what he is capable of but never looked like he would score.

LW: Bukayo Saka – 7/10

The English winger was Arsenal’s best player on the field at times but failed to register a goal.

CAM: Emile Smith Rowe – 6/10

Smith Rowe had some bright moments in the game but didn’t do enough to find the back of the net.

RW: Nicolas Pepe – 6/10

He added some pace to Arsenal’s attack.
