Christensen’s Impressive Form At West London This Season
Christensen is having a solid season at Stamford Bridge after producing a run of impressive performances at the heart of Thomas Tuchel’s defence. The Danish defensive has scored two goals and grabbed one assist in 26 matches for the Blues during this campaign across all competitions.
The 25-year-old has given a good account of himself when defending inside his half based on his average 0.5 tackles, 1.7 interceptions and 2.8 clearances per game in the Premier League. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from the back as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 87.8% in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
What Should Be Chelsea Boss Thomas Tuchel’s Play With Regards To Christensen’s Future?
Christensen has been a rock at the back for Chelsea as he managed to establish himself as a consistent performer for Thomas Tuchel’s defence. He is usually quick to spot the danger and doesn’t mind clearing his lines when at risk of being caught out at the back.
The Denmark international is a good tackler of the ball and can make some important interceptions for his side on the defensive end of the pitch. He is proficient at playing his way out from the back.
At 25, Christensen is about to enter his prime. However, he has just got six months remaining in his Chelsea contract, so Tuchel would be powerless to stop him from leaving on a free transfer this summer if he fails to tie him down to a new contract.
At the moment, it seems likely that Christensen will part ways for the Blues at the end of this campaign. Therefore, it makes sense for the West London giants to sign a suitable replacement capable of filling the Danish centre-back’s shoes at Stamford Bridge in the off-season.
