Leeds United will welcome Aston Villa at Elland Road on Thursday night as they look to pick up a positive result in front of their home supporters. The Whites suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Leicester City last weekend, so they will be eager to right the wrongs in this midweek fixture.
Jesse Marsch could opt for a 4-2-2-2 formation and is expected to make one tweak to his first team for this game. Adam Forshaw will probably get the nod to play from the start while Mateusz Klich makes way for him and drops to the bench.
4-2-2-2 Leeds United Predicted Lineup To Face Aston Villa
Defence
Illan Meslier will function in between the sticks for the Whites after shipping in one goal in his last league outing. Robin Koch will operate alongside Pascal Struijk at the heart of the Leeds backline as they focus on keeping things solid at the back in midweek.
Luke Ayling will play at right-back while Junior Firpo fills in on the other flank as the left-back. Both Leeds full-backs will have to maintain a solid defensive shape if they are to stop the Villans from creating too many chances from the wide areas.
Diego Llorente is unlikely to recover in time for this league clash.
Midfield
Stuart Dallas and Adam Forshaw will anchor the midfield for the Whites as they focus on making life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park.
Jack Harrison will play as the left-sided wide player while Raphinha looks to weave his magic from the right. Both of them will carry most of the creative workload for the Whites up top.
As mentioned earlier, Mateusz Klich will have to settle for a spot on the bench as he offers cover for the central midfield positions.
Attack
Rodrigo and Daniel James could get a chance to lead the charge for Marsch’s side in the final third. Both of them need to find a way to cause a few problems for the Aston Villa defenders in midweek.
Joe Gelhardt will have to be content with a place on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second half if needed.
