In a recent report, Liverpool Echo has mentioned that Everton are keeping tabs on Nottingham Forest centre-back Joe Worrall. It is believed that the Toffees sent scouts to catch the English defender in action versus Liverpool in the FA Cup quarterfinals last weekend.
Worrall’s Encouraging Season At The City Ground
Worrall is experiencing an impressive campaign with the Championship outfit as he has been responsible for putting in a series of solid displays for them at the back. The 25-year-old has found the back of the net once and secured one assist in 33 matches for his current club this season on all fronts.
The talented centre-half has caught the eye by averaging 1.8 tackles, 2.0 interceptions, 3.3 clearances, 0.6 shots and 0.6 dribbles per game in the English Championship. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from inside his half after making 77.2% of his attempted passes in the English second division (stats via whoscored).
Is Worrall A Good Fit For Chelsea?
Worrall is a solid presence when defending inside his half as he can read the danger quickly and usually times his challenges well to earn possession back for his team on the defensive end of the pitch.
The English defensive ace doesn’t take too many risks when clearing the danger at the back. Standing at 1.90m, he can be a towering presence at both ends of the field and is also good with the ball at his feet.
A centre-back of Worrall’s skillset will be an excellent addition to the Toffees‘ squad. He will offer some healthy competition for Ben Godfrey, Mason Holgate and Michael Keane for a regular starting spot at Goodison Park in the coming seasons.
At 25, Worrall’s best years are ahead of him which makes him a good fit for the Merseyside outfit in the long run. Therefore, Everton should consider moving in for the Nottingham Forest star, especially if Frank Lampard is confident about his ability to get the best out of the player over the next few years.
