In a recent report, Football.London mentioned that Arsenal could move in for Leeds United star Raphinha. It is believed that the Gunners have identified the Whites winger as a potential replacement for Nicolas Pepe in the summer.
Raphinha’s Impressive Numbers At Elland Road This Season
Raphinha is having another impressive campaign at Leeds as he has produced a run of productive performances on the right side of their frontline. The Brazilian wide player has made 25 appearances for the Whites this season, finding the back of the net on nine occasions and providing two assists across all fronts.
The 25-year-old has given a good account of himself down the right flank based on his average of 1.4 tackles, 2.7 shots, 2.0 key passes, 1.0 crosses and 2.0 dribbles per game in the Premier League. However, he needs to take care of the ball a bit better when linking up play with others around him after completing 68.1% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Should Leeds United Boss Jesse Marsch Cash In On Raphinha?
Raphinha can be a hard man to stop when he is dribbling at full swing down the right-wing. He has got the pace to get the better of his marker out on the wide areas and has got the eye to play a decisive pass in the final third.
More importantly, the Brazil international can strike the ball with venom and accuracy from long range and has got a decent goal-scoring record in Premier League football.
At 25, Raphinha’s best years are ahead of him which makes him an irreplaceable member of Leeds‘ squad. His current contract at Elland Road is set to expire in the summer of 2024. Thus, there is no immediate need for the new Leeds boss, Jesse Marsch, to cash in on the Brazilian sensation at the end of this campaign.
Raphinha is good enough to help the Yorkshire giants steer clear of the relegation zone and maybe even challenge for European football next season. Therefore, Marsch would be wise to try everything in his power to keep hold of him beyond this summer.
