Aston Villa will face off against Leeds United at Elland Road on Thursday night as they focus on collecting maximum points on the road. The Villans secured a convincing 4-0 defeat over Southampton last weekend, so they will be full of confidence ahead of this game.
Steven Gerrard will set his side up in a 4-3-1-2 formation and is expected to name an unchanged team for this game. Hence, Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings will once again get the nod to lead the line for the West Midlands outfit down the middle.
4-3-1-2 Aston Villa Predicted Lineup To Face Leeds United
Defence
Emiliano Martinez will feature in between the sticks for the Villans after keeping a clean sheet in his last league outing.
Calum Chambers will function along with Tyrone Mings at the centre of the Aston Villa backline as they focus on keeping things solid at the back during the 90 minutes.
Matty Cash will fill in as the right-back while Ashley Young hopes to give a good account of himself on the other side as the left-back. Gerrard will give both of them the license to get forward and express themselves in the Leeds half.
Kortney Hause will offer cover for the centre-back positions on the bench.
Midfield
Jacob Ramsey, Douglas Luiz and John McGinn will make up the Aston Villa midfield. Their main focus would be to retain the ball well at the centre of the park and engineer some clear-cut chances in the final third.
Philippe Coutinho will get the freedom to run the show as a free-flowing attacking midfielder in the opponent’s half.
Morgan Sanson and Emiliano Buendia will be available for selection on the bench as they wait for their opportunity to shine in the second half if needed.
Attack
As mentioned earlier, Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings will spearhead Gerrard’s attack up top. Both of them would need to be at the top of their game if the Villans are to secure maximum points from this away game.
Leon Bailey will have to settle for a place on the bench but might come on to influence the game in the latter stages if needed.
