Real Madrid clashed heads with Athletic Bilbao at the San Mames Stadium earlier tonight as they hoped to earn a positive result and book a place in the semifinals of the Copa del Rey. Both sides fought tooth and nail in the first half as they went into the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.
Los Blancos produced an unimpressive display in the second half and conceded the opening goal in the 89th minute when Alex Berenguer found the back of the net with a left-footed finish. Carlo Ancelotti’s men ended up crashing out of the Copa del Rey after losing the contest by a 1-0 scoreline.
Let’s take a look at how each Real Madrid player performed during the match against Athletic Bilbao.

CM: Luka Modric – 6/10
The Croatia international got booked for a poor challenge. He struggled to influence the game but managed to create one good chance in the second half.
CM: Casemiro – 6/10
Casemiro tried his best to protect his backline and was bright on the ball. However, he failed to create too many clear-cut chances going forward.
CM: Toni Kroos – 6/10
He had a couple of good moments in the first half but ran out of gas in the second and got replaced in the 76th minute.
