Newcastle United locked horns with West Ham United at the London Stadium earlier today as they focused on grinding out a good result on their travels. The Magpies made a slow start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 32nd minute when Craig Dawson scored with a powerful header for West Ham. However, Joe Willock equalised for the Magpies in the first half injury-time to make it 1-1 at half-time.

Both sides canceled each other out in the second 45 minutes as the contest finished with a 1-1 scoreline at East London.

Let’s take a look at how each Newcastle player performed during the clash against the Hammers.

GK: Martin Dubravka – 6/10

He made a couple of important saves at the back but won’t be pleased after shipping in a goal in the first half.

RB: Emil Krafth – 6/10

Krafth made two important clearances but failed to influence the game in the final third.

CB: Fabian Schar – 6.5/10

He made two crucial defensive contributions and was a threat at the other end of the field as well.

CB: Dan Burn – 7/10

Burn cleared the danger when needed and was a solid presence on the defensive third of the pitch.

LB: Matt Targett – 7/10

The English left-back performed his defensive duties well and made a few inviting chances for others around him.

CM: Joe Willock – 8/10

Willock offered decent protection for his teammates at the back and was a constant menace in the opponent’s half. He scored late in the first half which rescued a point for his team.

CM: Jonjo Shelvey – 6.5/10

He won the ball back a few times but lacked the cutting edge in the final third.

CM: Joelinton – 6.5/10

Joelinton worked hard at both ends of the field and even engineered a couple of meaningful chances up top.

RW: Ryan Fraser – 6/10

The Scottish sensation struggled to get into the flow of the game and got replaced in the 78th minute.

ST: Chris Wood – 6.5/10

Wood fashioned a couple of decent chances for his teammates but never got a sniff at goal.

LW: Jacob Murphy – 6.5/10

He had a few lively moments in the game but there was no goal for him today.

Substitutes:

RW: Miguel Almiron – 6/10

He added some energy to the Newcastle attack.

CM: Bruno Guimaraes – N/A

Guimaraes didn’t get enough minutes to warrant a rating.
