Barcelona will clash heads with Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium on Sunday evening as they look to pick up a good result on the road. The Catalan giants were held to a 1-1 draw by Napoli in midweek which has halted their momentum ahead of this league clash.
Xavi will set his side up in a 4-3-3 formation and could make a few tweaks to his starting XI for this game. Both Sergio Busquets and Sergino Dest are expected to play from the start at the expense of Nico Gonzalez and Gerard Pique, who is suspended for this game.
4-3-3 Barcelona Predicted Lineup To Face Valencia
Defence
Marc-André ter Stegen will function in goal for the Spanish side after conceding one goal in his last appearance. Oscar Mingueza could get a chance to impress alongside Eric Garcia at the heart of the Barca backline as they try to secure a clean sheet during the game.
Sergino Dest could get an opportunity to catch the eye at right-back while Jordi Alba looks to put his pace to good use as the left-back. Xavi will give both of them the license to get forward and join in on the attack whenever they can.
Midfield
Pedri, Sergio Busquets and Frenkie de Jong will function as the central midfielders for Barca as they focus on establishing their superiority over the opposition at the centre of the park. Both Pedri and de Jong will be responsible for creating a few inviting chances in the attacking end of the field.
Attack
Ferran Torres should retain his spot as the left-sided wide player while Adama Traore hopes to put in a productive performance on the right.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will spearhead Xavi’s attack down the middle. The Gabon international needs a goal to boost his confidence, so he will be eager to find the back of the net when he laces up to face off against the Valencia defenders this weekend.
Luuk de Jong will have to be content with a spot on the bench as he waits for his opportunity to impress in the latter stages if needed.
