West Ham United conceded a last-minute winner as they were beaten by Manchester United at Old Trafford in this weekend’s Premier League fixture. In a battle for a top 4 place in the league table, the Red Devils come away with a crucial win and move above the Hammers. The Hammers were brilliant defensively as the Red Devils could manage only 1 shot on target before Marcus Rashford came up with the goods to break West Ham’s heart with the last kick of the game. The defeat means that West Ham lose their top 4 place and drop below Manchester United in the league table.
Let’s take a look at how each West Ham player performed during the match against the Red Devils.
GK: Alphonse Areola – 6.5/10
Areola didn’t have much work to do between the sticks and had to only make a couple of regular saves but had no chance to save the goal as Rashford tapped it in to give United the win.
RB: Vladimir Coufal – 6/10
Vladimir Coufal defended well against the pace of the United attackers but was substituted in the 70th minute. He couldn’t influence the game offensively.
CB: Craig Dawson – 7/10
Dawson was solid defensively and made a lot of clearances throughout the game.
CB: Kurt Zouma – 6.5/10
The French defender stood strong defensively but was poor playing out from the back.
LB: Aaron Cresswell – 6.5/10
Aaron Cresswell didn’t give any space to Greenwood who played on that right-wing to work with. He was poor offensively as he couldn’t put a decent cross inside the box.
CM: Declan Rice – 8/10
Declan Rice dominated the midfield throughout the match. He won a lot of 2nd balls in the middle of the park and also made some good progressive runs carrying the ball into the box.
CM: Tomas Soucek – 6/10
Soucek didn’t have his best of games tonight as he misplaced a lot of passes in the middle of the park.
RW: Jarrod Bowen – 7.5/10
Bowen gave the United defence a lot of problems as he easily went past defenders and came close to scoring.
CAM: Manuel Lanzini – 6/10
Lanzini could hardly influence the game as he didn’t get any space to work with. The United defenders closed him down well.
LW: Pablo Fornals– 6/10
Fornals lacked accuracy in the final third and couldn’t create any chance.
ST: Michail Antonio – 6/10
Antonio didn’t get a sniff at the goal and was wasteful in the attacking third.
Substitutes:
RB: Ryan Fredericks – 5/10
His error cost West Ham the winner.
