In a recent report, Marca claimed that Ajax midfielder Ryan Gravenberch is on the radar of Real Madrid. It is believed that Los Blancos are showing interest in the Dutch talent as they look to bolster their midfield options for the future.
Gravenberch’s Decent Form In Dutch Football This Season
The 19-year-old is having a good season for the Amsterdam club as he has put in a few impressive performances at the heart of Erik ten Hag’s midfield. The Netherlands international has participated in 28 matches for the Dutch giants during this campaign, finding the back of the net once and grabbing four assists in multiple competitions.
Gravenberch has proven his worth as a consistent performer in Ajax’s midfield by averaging 1.7 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 0.7 clearances, 1.7 shots, 1.2 key passes and 2.4 dribbles per game in the Dutch Eredivisie. He has even been excellent when interchanging possession with others around him after making 85.7% of his attempted passes in the Dutch top tier (stats via whoscored).
Should Real Madrid Move In For Gravenberch?
Gravenberch can do a little bit of everything at the centre of the park. He is a solid tackler of the ball and usually scans the danger quickly to secure the ball back for his side at the centre of the park. The Dutch sensation doesn’t mind stepping back to put his foot through the ball when needed and is usually a tidy passer from midfield. He can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range and can engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates to score.
Gravenberch has also got the energy to make some clever runs with the ball in the opposition half. He is a complete midfielder and would be an ideal fit for Los Blancos this year.
At 19, Gravenberch has already begun to showcase what he is capable of in Dutch football. Hence, Carlo Ancelotti should prioritize on moving in for him this January or at the end of this campaign.
The Madrid giants have currently got an aging midfield with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos still playing most of the games for them in La Liga. However, a youngster of Gravenberch’s quality would be a perfect acquisition for Los Blancos as he will strengthen Ancelotti’s midfield for the long run.
